Case Study 1: "Chris"
Established Senior Leader
Chris was well established in his career, heading up his own department as director for the first time. Whilst he was very experienced, his role and responsibilities felt very new to him:
-
felt stressed as he worried that he was not performing to the maximum of his abilities and that he was not meeting expectations…his confidence was easily undermined in meetings
-
found balancing his priorities and managing his ‘to do list’ difficult
-
never seemed to have time for the strategic plans he wanted to make, or to get home in time!

Although Chris felt he had some great new business development ideas, he worried whether the senior leadership team would support them, and how to pitch the ideas confidently in a motivating way. To some extent, ‘Imposter Syndrome’ was hijacking Chris’s self-belief and making him hold back.
